FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to treatment of surface of metal materials containing iron and/or zinc. The procedure for treatment of the said surface consists in contacting surface with water composition containing the following elements: (A) compound containing at least one element chosen from a group including titanium, zirconium, hafnium and silicon, (B) compound containing yttrium and/or lanthanide element and (C) nitric acid and/or compound of nitric acid. Also ratio of common concentration (B) expressed in weight units related to the above said yttrium and/or lanthanide elements contained in the above said component (B) to common concentration A expressed in weight units and related to the above said elements included into composition of the above said component A or K1=B/A is within ranges: 0.05≤K1≤50, while ratio of common expressed in weight units concentration C of nitrogen atoms contained in the above said component (C) and related to concentration of nitrate ions to common expressed in weight units concentration A or K2=C/A is within the ranges: 0.01≤K2≤200 and the above said common concentration A expressed in weight units is within the ranges: 10 parts per million ≤A≤10000 of parts per million.
EFFECT: facilitating production of coating layer with high corrosion resistance without additional coating and applying composition without components harmful for environment.
