FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to activating liquid for washing during metal substrate treatment. Activating liquid contains a dispersion of metal phosphate particles having particle size D90 not more than 10 mcm, in which the metal phosphate contains bivalent or trivalent metals or combinations thereof, dispersant and salt of metal sulphate, which contains metal in form of nickel, cobalt, zinc, iron, copper or their combinations. Particle size D90 relates to weighted average particle size distribution, in which 90 % of particles have diameter smaller than D90. Also disclosed are a method of treating a metal substrate with an activating liquid for washing and a metal substrate treated with said activating liquid.
EFFECT: invention enables to form a metal-phosphate coating on the surface of a metal substrate, having a low coating weight, a smaller size of phosphate crystals and improved adhesion characteristics.
