METHOD OF ESTIMATING DEFICIT OF SPINAL CANAL VOLUME AT LEVEL OF AFFECTED SEGMENT DEFECT Russian patent published in 2010 - IPC A61B5/00

Abstract RU 2396896 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine and can be used in traumatology, ortopedics, neurosyrgery and vertebrology to estimate deficit of spinal canal volume at the level of affected segment defect. Computer-tomographic examination is carried out in longitudinal and transverse directions. Obtained in the similar scale longitudinal and transverse spine sections are superimposed until boundaries of defect on obtained images match. On them, crossing defect contours, drawn are a number of auxiliary parallel to each other and perpendicular to spine axis lines at equal distance from each other. Length of line segments, enclosed inside defect contour on images in longitudinal and transverse sections of spine, is measured. Value of maximal segment length is selected from values and it is taken as defect height in longitudinal section. Length of segments of contour of spinal canal part at the level of defect in transverse section is measured and rectangular parallelepipeds are drawn. After that deficit of spinal canal volume at the level of its defect is determined.

EFFECT: method allows to estimate volume of defect in spinal canal space and choose respective tactics of surgical treatment.
