FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of fluoride glass and can be used in production of materials for infrared fibre optics, resonator and auxiliary optics, as well as for visual observation and detection of radiation fields, making lasers and light-emitting diodes. Method involves centrifugation of molten glass in a rotating container and then solidification. During centrifugation, the molten glass is cooled to temperature below crystallisation temperature. The molten glass is centrifuged while the centrifuge is rotating at 8000-15000 rpm. The molten glass is then put into a mould for solidification at temperature lower than glass transition point. The hardened and moulded glass is annealed at glass transition point and then slowly cooled to room temperature.
EFFECT: obtaining volumetric samples of optically transparent fluoride glass of different shapes with simultaneous reduction of defects of the glass.
