SUBSTANCE: method of preventive treatment of animals and birds involves the generation of aerosol containing iodine compound particles of sizes adequate for distribution in the airways, differing that a solid-propellant composition containing potassium iodide, fuel, an oxidiser, processing aids are placed in the aerosol generator, the aerosol generator is arranged in the same room with animals or birds, to feed a heat pulse, to perform self-propagating high-temperature synthesis which results in producing solid potassium iodide particles of size 30-1280 nm; the animals or birds are exposed to the generated aerosol mixed gas and solid particles for 2 hours. The method uses carbon fuel as fuel, nitre as an oxidiser, paraffin or ceresin as processing aids.

EFFECT: invention provides decrease in labour input and higher safety of the method.
