FIELD: weapons and ammunition.

SUBSTANCE: proposed electric igniter (EI) can be used in designing pyrocartridges. EI comprises two-layer case with undercut section at gas outlet face wherein box is arranged to accommodate electrical terminals and filament bridge, adapter with igniting weight and main charge. Two-layer case is arranged so that inner layer is thinner that outer one and is made from less strong material. Note here that said gas outlet face features undercut section resulted from producing through hole in outer layer. That hole can have either single diametre, or stepped diametre with smaller diametre being made on outlet side. Aforesaid igniting weight is separated from main charge by metal cap. Note here that cap height is not smaller than the distance from cap face to either through hole or smaller-diametre hole, while larger diametre of stepped hole may not be less than metal cap diametre.

EFFECT: higher operating reliability.
