FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: method involves use of weight-calibrating and checking wagons. Two self-propelled trucks (ST3) are unloaded from the weight-calibrating wagon, loaded with weights and then weighed on railway truck scales. After that the ST3 are removed from the scales and a control wagon of known mass and put on the scales and then weighed. The ST3 are then put on the scales and re-weighed together with the control wagon. The mass of the control wagon is selected such that it is equal to the mass of two ST3. After that the ST3 are put on the scales and weighed together as indicated. That way, the scales are first calibrated using a substitution method to a value equal to mass of four ST3 and then on the remaining mass using the same method until achieving the maximum weighing limit.
EFFECT: wider range of calibrating railway truck scales to their maximum weighing limit with increase in measurement accuracy.
