FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention discloses an improved PUREX method for separating uranium from other actinides (Pu, Np, Th…) in a single purification cycle. The method involves: a) combined extraction of uranium (VI), plutonium (IV) and other (IV) or (VI) actinides from an aqueous nitric acid solution using a solvent phase and washing this phase; b) re-extraction of plutonium (III) from the solvent phase using aqueous nitric acid solution; c) re-extraction of uranium (VI) from the solvent phase using aqueous nitric acid solution; d) concentration of uranium (VI) in aqueous nitric acid solution obtained at step c), whereby a portion of the aqueous solution rich in uranium (VI) and obtained at step d) is used in re-extraction of an actinide or (IV) actinides from the solvent phase either at step b) or between steps b) and c).
EFFECT: possibility of using the method when processing spent nuclear fuel based on UO2, mixed oxide (U, Pu)O2 or (U, Th)O2.
