FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: pipe rolling is started when needle front collar stays in die working channel. Billet length is selected so that pipe front thin part is not smaller than pipe OD. Needle collar length is selected so that the distance from needle front edge to section wherein metal fluxion starts is not smaller than pipe bulge diametre.
EFFECT: reduced variation in wall thickness of pipe front end bulge, higher accuracy of sizes.
