FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: abrasive wheel consists of abrasive particles and features work surface representing hyperboloid of one sheet with its rectilinear generating lines arranged at an angle to its rotational axis. Required profile of machined part is produced in arranging abrasive wheel at angle to feed direction. Abrasive wheel features density, in direction from its edges to center, that varies in reverse proportion to abrasive wheel radius for its given section and meeting the condition: Ri ρi = const, where Ri is current radius of abrasive wheel during its wear; ρi is current density of abrasive wheel with radius Ri.
EFFECT: higher accuracy of ground surfaces and reduced costs of machining.
