FIELD: process engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention aims at increasing the efficiency of reversing plate mill in producing strips for large-diametre tubes. Proposed method comprises heating the biller, rough rolling at plate mill to preset thickness and width of intermediate billet, cooling down intermediate billet in natural conditions, finish rolling with relative deformation of 3-12% in every pass till preset thickness of finished strip and specified accelerated cooling of strip by feeding water on face surfaces and decelerated cooling down in air after stacking finished strips. Rough rolling is performed with 90°-canting in plan to thickness making 2.5…6 thicknesses of finished strip and to width of finished strip in at least three passes. Cooling down is performed in stacking billets, stack consisting of at least three billets, and in holding said stack for at least a day with the following heating of each intermediate billet to not over 850°C and finishing rolling wherein initial billet axis aligns with rolling axis, while accelerated strip cooling down is performed to 350…600°C.

EFFECT: higher efficiency, better mechanical properties.
