FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: using a device which comprises two spaced out optical-location units, each consisting of a photographic lens and a photosensitive matrix in its focal plane, lying on the refuelled aircraft, and a computer which includes a programmed image processing module, a module for calculating orientation angle of the refuelling aircraft and the cone and a module for calculating coordinates of the refuelling aircraft and the cone, the image is processed and coordinates of identical points on the photosensitive matrix are used to calculate coordinates of the position and orientation angle of the refuelling aircraft and the cone relative the refuelled aircraft.
EFFECT: automatic control of the refuelled aircraft during contact at the mid-air refuelling step.
