FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: air-operated drive (AD) comprises gas control valve drive piston communicated with gas control valve, pneumatic accumulator (PA) and AD control system that provides for gas exchange in engine. For this, AD control system tracks engine piston current position and, when engine gas control valve is to be opened or closed, set spool-valve into position that forces working body from PA into gas control valve drive piston space wherein working body acts on said piston to open or close gas control valve. PA is charged with working body from combustion chamber (CC) at compression and expansion strokes. Said drive incorporates shut-off valve with piston and shut-off valve communicated therewith. Drive piston space communicated via pipeline with PA and, with working body pressure exceeding optimum value, working body is forced in shut-off valve piston space to closed shut-off valve.
EFFECT: optimum level of PA charge.
