FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: plate made from material of a component is put into a clamp mechanism with possibility of ballising one of its sides which is subjected to this processing. Values of residual stress on both sides and on the entire cross section of the plate before and after removing the plate from the clamp mechanism are determined. The non-processed side of the plate is covered with elastic material. The plate is placed with possibility of bending during processing. The plate is bent during processing. The elastic material is removed from the non-processed side of the plate. The latter is straightened and then held in the straightened position. Values of residual stress in the plate on the ballising side and on the non-processed side are determined before and after straightening, and secondary plastic compression deformation is established from the difference between these stress values.
EFFECT: possibility of measuring secondary plastic compression deformation, determination of subsurface maximum of residual stress in the surface layer of the material of the component and fall in compression stress on the surface of the material of a complex-loaded component.
