SUBSTANCE: invention discloses a method for scheduled switching of reception between multimedia programs. For continued decoding, the wireless communication device continues to receive, decode, decompress and (optionally) visually display the current program even after a new program has been selected until privileged information has been received, which is required for decoding the new program. After receiving privileged information, the wireless communication device decodes the new program, but continues to decompress the current program.
EFFECT: more efficient switching between multimedia programs and reduced delay when decoding every new data stream.
