To provide commutation on the basis of quality in the streaming client, client may have access to information on the quality of an encoded segment and/or subsegment. Information associated with quality may include any number of additional quality parameters associated with encoded segment and/or subsegment of an encoded video stream. Adding information associated with quality may be made by switching information associated with quality in the manifest file, including information associated with quality, in indices of segments stored in the index segments file, and/or providing additional files with segments information associated with quality and providing a link to the information of a MPD-file. After receiving the information associated with quality, the client may request and receive a flow, which has lower bit transfer rate, due to saving bandwidth with simultaneous maintenance of streaming content quality.

EFFECT: achieving efficiency of using network bandwidth by adaptation to complexity and quality of an encoded video signal.
