FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medicine and may be used to draw tissues together in treatment of wounds in surgery or to support tissues in case of absence of wounds in plastic surgery. Suture material contains the main part with cogs along periphery, sharp end and stop at one end. Stop may have one or more branches. Branches may be arched, have various length and various distribution along periphery of the main part of suture material. Methods for stitching of single-sided and double-sided suture materials with cogs are applied to draw tissues together at each side of wound, and also to fix and support tissue in absence of wound, for instance in plastic surgery. Methods may include application of finishing J-shaped or S-shaped stitches and may be realised with the help of needles or tools for introduction. Stitches may have sinusoidal shapes, amplitude of which is substantially perpendicular to resulting force of retention of suture material.

EFFECT: group of inventions has wide spectrum of applications, including, but not limited to, Nissen operation, stabilisation of internals in process of laparoscopic operation, appendectomy, resection of oesophagus diverticulum, bladder cystostomy, fixation of replacement cardiac valve, fixation of external device to tissue, and stitching of axial wounds in blood vessels.
