METHOD OF PSYCHOLOGICAL DEPENDENCE TREATMENT Russian patent published in 2010 - IPC A61M21/00

Abstract RU 2405581 C2

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention belongs to medicine, notably to psychotherapeutics. Method involves 3 stages. On first stage the assortment of allegorical images with obviously negative content - imago, symbolising a desperate situation are offered to patient. Doctor shows images one by one in the form of static vision - picture or slide on the computer display with corresponding short description. When all the negative images are presented, patient chooses the image, which maximally corresponds to his main problem subjective feelings. Doctor makes sure if patient's choice is adequate enough by comparing artistic and semantic content of chosen symbolic situation to subjective experience of dependence and to imagos which previously existed in patient's conceptions. When patient has chosen one of presented images and doctor has confirmed that the choice is valid, all the rest of the negative pictures are excepted. Until completion of the stage, patient is suggested to look intently on the chosen image and meditate, trying to experience situations, feelings and recollections associated with this image completely and consciously. On the second stage, patient gets another assortment of images in form of paper models or computer images, but with positive content. After presentation of all symbolic images, doctor offers patient to choose one image, which most precisely corresponds to his personal conception of pathologic dependence, and asks leading questions that help patient to choose the image which maximally corresponds to his subjective conceptions of his recovery. Further on, until completion of the stage, patient is suggested to look intently on the chosen image and meditate; trying to experience, most completely and consciously situations, feelings and recollections, associated with this image, identifying first of chosen images as "crisis" and the second one - as "overcoming the crisis". On the third stage, patient, having both of chosen images before him, is offered to find a semantic connection between them - a common storyline in which first negative image is a dramatic beginning of allegoric story and second is positive - story's happy ending, forming the cognitive and behavioural styles that provide adequate reaction in frustration situations.

EFFECT: method aims to break psychological connection between the negative events, patient's present condition, and ensures following training of choosing correct decisions.
