FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method involves treatment of crude oil or petroleum products with sulphur-oxidising bacteria of the genus Thiobacillus (Th. aquaesulis, Th.denitrificans, Th.thioparus, Th.thiooxidans, Th. Ferrooxidans) at pH 1-9. The method is realised in the presence of oxidising agents, e.g. HClO, NaCIO, Ca(ClO)2, HClO2, NaClO2, HClO3, HBrO (or similar) or nitric acid. The process also uses hydrogen donors such as organic acids, alcohols, phenols, dedcalin, naphthaline, cresol or complex metal hydrides. The process is carried out at temperature ranging from 2°C to 96°C, preferably at 16-42°C. Initial optimum concentration of dry biomass of 0.2 g/l of the reaction medium is used when processing the crude oil.
EFFECT: invention improves quality of obtained petroleum products owing to increase in content of light and oil hydrocarbon fractions, low content of dark fractions, masout and coke, which in turn improves quality and operational characteristics of the obtained oil fractions.
