FIELD: information technology.
SUBSTANCE: properties of a transmission line are evaluated (204) from the relationship between a signal transmitted over the line (200) and the resultant received signal (201) or signals at frequencies for which the absolute value of the propagation coefficient of the line multiplied by the length of the line is less than π. The input impedance of the line is expressed through linear constants (capacitance, resistance, induction and conductivity of the line) using Taylor's theorem. After dropping higher order terms and including measured values, the resultant system of equations is solved and linear constants are obtained provided that at least two frequencies are used.
EFFECT: high accuracy ensuring operation on long lines.
