FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in chemical and metallurgical production of platinum group metals. A ruthenium chloride solution is treated with a reducing agent selected from C2H5OH or HCOOH until achieving redox potential of 610±20 mV relative a silver chloride reference electrode. The solution is then evaporated. The obtained product is dried at 270-300°C for 10-15 hours.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain ruthenium (III) chloride with not less than 48,7% content of the main component.
