FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to hydrometallurgy of noble metals and can be used in processing chloride solutions for extraction and separation of noble metals. Method of extracting and separating noble metals from chloride solutions involves treatment of solutions while heating with sulfite or hydrosulfite of an alkali metal, separation of sediment from solution, repeated treatment of solution with reducing agent, which is used as iron, and separation of cementate from solution.
EFFECT: practically quantitative extraction of noble metals from solutions and separation of the main part of platinum, palladium and gold from rare platinum metals — rhodium, iridium, ruthenium.
