FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention provides a local system for determining location using radar photography with main polarisation or cross polarisation. In one version of the method, at least a first electromagnetic pulse having a first polarisation is transmitted. A first reflected signal preferably having first polarisation is received during the corresponding period of time. A first reflected signal is processed in order to pick up the first reflected pulse corresponding to an object inside the radar detection zone of the location system. At least a second electromagnetic pulse having first polarisation is also transmitted. A second reflected signal preferably having second polarisation is received during a corresponding period of time. The second reflected signal is processed in order to pick up the second reflected pulse corresponding to the object. The object characteristic is determined in accordance with relative signal intensity of the first reflected pulse and the second reflected pulse.
EFFECT: high accuracy of determining location of an object.
