FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ophthalmology and is intended for diagnostics of complications development in case of proliferative diabetic retinopathy in patients with non-transparent optic eye media. In lacrimal fluid of patients with proliferative diabetic retinopathy, determined are levels of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and pigment epithelium-derived factor (PEDF) obtained by ELISA method. If VEGF concentration is higher or equals 467 pg/ml and/or PEDF concentration is lower or equal 1.84 ng/ml, proliferative diabetic retinopathy with complications is diagnosed.

EFFECT: method allows to diagnose presence of proliferative diabetic retinopathy complications in patients with non-transparent optic eye media.
