FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: method of determining surface tension and wetting angle of liquid in a porous medium involves measurement of phase transition temperature of the analysed liquid in free space T0, saturation of porous material having known geometrical structure of the pore space with the analysed liquid. Said method also involves measurement of phase transition temperature of the analysed liquid in said porous material Tm, and the wetting angle θ or surface tension of the liquid between the liquid and solid phases of the fluid in the porous medium γsi is calculated using the formula: where ΔTm is change in melting point of the liquid in the pores, equal to T0-Tm, ρ is density of the fluid, ΔH is latent heat of phase change of the fluid filling the pores, rp is effective pore radius, equal to (R-t), R is pore radius, t is thickness of the non-freezing layer of liquid.
EFFECT: high accuracy, reliability and fast determination of surface tension and wetting angle of liquid in a porous medium.
