FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention discloses a cartridge removably mounted into the main housing of the electrophotographic image forming apparatus and designed to form an image on a recording medium. The main housing of the electrophotographic apparatus comprises: a main housing guide, retaining apparatus which can move relative the main housing guide, and the abutting part of the main housing. The cartridge comprises: a frame; a guided part which projects from the frame such that it is guided by the main housing guide, and rests in the retaining apparatus such that the cartridge is fit into the main housing of the image forming apparatus with prevention of movement to the low-lying side in the direction of installation; a movable element which can move relative the frame and rests in the abutting part of the main housing such that it acts on the retaining apparatus during movement, thereby moving the retaining apparatus to a position which allows movement of the guided part to the low-lying side in the direction of installation.

EFFECT: reduced overall dimensions of the main housing of the image forming apparatus, high efficiency when removing the cartridge from the main housing of the image forming apparatus and installation of the cartridge into this housing.
