SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in designing and using lithium-ion accumulator batteries for standalone electric power supply systems of an artificial earth satellite (AES). The method of using a lithium-ion accumulator battery in a standalone electric power supply system for AES involves carrying out charging and discharging cycles, monitoring voltage across each accumulator and balancing voltage of the accumulators. According to the invention, when carrying out charging and discharging cycles, monitoring of voltage across each accumulator and balancing voltage of accumulators, said balancing is carried out through additional charging from separate voltage sources with current limitation using resistors. The voltage level of the separate sources should not be higher than the maximum charging voltage of the accumulator, and minimum effective value of additional charging current is limited for minimal significant value of the difference in voltage across the accumulators, but at a level higher than the maximum self-discharge current of the accumulators. Also, power of the separate voltage sources is selected based on the condition that the additional charge current does not exceed a preset value within the working range of the voltage across the accumulators.

EFFECT: improved specific energy characteristics and reliability of using a lithium-ion accumulator battery in a standalone AES electric power supply system.
