FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metal forming and can be used in producing intermediate billets from (α + β)-titanium alloys. Billet is subjected to hot forging at forging press in four-hammer forging device. Note here that said billet is simultaneously reduced on four sides with shear strains in crosswise plane in every signal reduction. Hot forging is carried at temperature varying from that lower by 120°C than temperature of polymorphic transformation to that 100°C higher than the latter. Total strain at hot forging makes at least 35%. Then billet is cooled down and forged at temperature lower than that of polymorphic transformation with total strain of at least 25%.
EFFECT: high process efficiency and quality.
