FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metal forming and may be used in making forged pieces with fine-grain structure at four-ram heads at forging press with two manipulators. Blank is reduced by four ram heads at a time that create shear force. Simultaneously, blank sections are twisted by manipulators. Blank is heated to temperature not lower than that of phase conversion and no higher than that of secondary recrystallisation. In reduction by two ram heads, blank length is kept invariable by locking its ends in manipulators with constant distance there between.
EFFECT: higher intensity of straining over blank entire thickness.
