FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: method for manufacturing rods or blanks from titanium alloys involves hot forging of the initial blank and subsequent hot deformation. The hot forging of the ingot is carried out after heating to a temperature in the range from (PTT+20) to (PTT+150)°C with shear deformations in the longitudinal direction and the drawing coefficient k=(1.2-2.5). After that, without cooling, hot rolling of the forging is performed at temperature range (PTT+20)÷(PTT+150)°C with direction change of shear deformations to the transverse one and the drawing coefficient up to 7.0, and subsequent hot deformation is performed by heating the deformed blanks at temperature range from (PTT-70) to (PTT-20)°C.
EFFECT: rods are characterized by high surface quality.
