PROCESS SCHEME FOR PRODUCING AMMONIUM OR POTASSIUM TRICHLOROAMMINE PLATINATE (II) FROM PLATINUM Russian patent published in 2011 - IPC C01G55/00 

FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: first, ammonium or potassium tetrachloroplatinate (II) is obtained by dissolving platinum in chloronitric acid, followed by reduction of chloroplatinic acid with hydrazine chloride with addition of KCl or NH₄Cl. The obtained ammonium or potassium tetrachloroplatinate (II) is treated with ammonium acetate to form a diammine acetate complex of platinum (II), after treatment with hydrochloric acid of which a cis-dichlorodiammine platinum (II) salt is extracted. This salt is also treated with hydrochloric acid to form NH₄[PtNH₃Cl₃]. [Pt(NH₃)₄Cl₂]·H₂O is then added to the solution to form a double salt [Pt(NH₃)₄]·[Pt(NH₃)Cl₃]₂ which is extracted and taken for reaction with an ammonium or potassium tetrachloroplatinate (II) solution. The obtained and extracted [Pt(NH₃)₄]·[PtCl₄] salt is converted in a solution of ammonium acetate and hydrochloric acid to an isomer of dichlorodiammine platinum (II) which is used to produce end products - ammonium or potassium trichloroammine platinates (II) M[PtNH₃Cl₃]·H₂O, where M is NH₄ ⁺ or K⁺, crystallisation of which is carried out from saturated hydrochloric acid solution.

EFFECT: high output and purity of end products.
