FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: intermetallic molybdenum-based composite materials can be used in parts operated at high temperatures, long mechanical and thermal loads, like, gas turbine engine refractory parts, in particular, working and nozzle vanes, fire tube elements, etc. Two-stage grinding is used to produce silicon powder. Note here that first stage brings about particle size approximating to 100 mcm and second stage allows producing particles sized to 40 mcm. Powders of molybdenum, boron and silicon are prepared to be mechanically doped at 40-50°C in protective working fluid. Hot compaction of powder mix is performed by extrusion at 1100-1200°C with draw-down ratio making at least 1:6.
EFFECT: proposed composite material features higher strength, preset chemical composition and high yield.
