FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ferrous metallurgy, namely, to production rail steel. Steel contains carbon, manganese, silicon, vanadium, chromium, nickel, copper, calcium, aluminium, niobium, nitrogen, iron and admixtures in the following ratio of components, wt %: carbon - 0.75-0.90, manganese - 0.75-1.25, silicon - 0.25-0.65, vanadium - 0.03-0.15, chromium - 0.20-0.60, nickel - 0.30 max.; copper - 0.30 max.; calcium - 0.0004-0.003, niobium - 0.001-0.12, aluminium - 0.005, max.; nitrogen - 0.007-0.020, iron and admixtures making the rest. Admixtures represent sulphur in amount not exceeding 0.020% and phosphor in amount not exceeding 0.025%.
EFFECT: improved physical and chemical properties.
