FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to journal bearing by means of which traction engine is partially supported on axis of railroad carriage arranged in low part of locomotive. Journal bearing (30) has an orifice for traction engine attachment to a journal of carriage axis. The orifice has section of upper surface (32) and section of lower surface (34); also, the section of upper surface and section of the lower surface have a middle part. The middle part of section of surface (32) is practically horizontal, while the middle part of section of surface (34) has a descending taper in the direction of an external edge. The value of the descending taper of the middle part of surface section (34) is approximately equal to 2×M1, where M1 is a value of a factor causing axial shifting determined with weight of the locomotive; or the descending taper of the middle part of section of surface (34) corresponds to a function of axial shifting M, f(M) where f(M) is at least directly correlated to values of at least two factors of axial shifting, one factor of which is determined with weight of the locomotive, while another is determined with effect of couple of forces to the axis of the carrier, or the middle parts correspond to a segment of a truncated cone of height inclined to horizontal equal to 1×M1 and angle at vertex equal to arc tangent 2×M1. Here there is also disclosed the second version of journal bearing design.
EFFECT: journal bearing controlling twisting forces caused by carriage axis bending determined not only with weight of locomotive, but also with incline of engine because of gaps on bearing and controlling effect of couple of forces onto axis occurring because of considerable radial loads on journal bearing positioned at the point of location of drive gear and axle beside this gear.
