FIELD: test equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to mechanical tests of materials. Young modulus is determined. Tested material is subject to indentation with stiff indenter in the form of regular pyramid at continuous indentation, and "load-movement of indenter" diagram is built, as per which ductility characteristic is determined as ratio of surface area between loading-unloading branches to total surface area under loading curve. Meyer hardness is determined as ratio of load to projection surface area of indentation on contact surface, and value of Poisson coefficient is calculated by the formula.

EFFECT: enlarging application area, reducing labour input and improving strength.
