SUBSTANCE: invention relates to measurement equipment for determination of adhesion strength of thin protective coatings on machine building products. Loading and insertion of diamond pyramidal tip into surface of laminar body of article with coating to depth provides for separation of coating from base during unloading, at that, diagram of introduction is recorded in the form of curves of load variation curves from penetration depth at increase and then reduction of load to zero and recording values of maximum load and corresponding to it penetration depth, effective modulus of elasticity of a layered body is calculated, graphically plotting theoretical curves of unloading independent coating material, base material and laminar body in range of values of experimental data by load, after which the theoretical curve of unloading of the layered body is combined with the experimental curve of unloading by coincidence of the load value in the theoretical curve of unloading of the layered body with the value of the load Pmax experimental introduction diagram, detecting region of discrepancy between experimental and theoretical curve of unloading of layered body, recording values in this load region Padh and insertion depth sadh on experimental curve of unloading, shifting the theoretical curve of unloading of the base material graphically into the region of finding the experimental curve of unloading such that the base material unloading curve passes through the point with coordinates [Padh, sadh] and calculating the value of adhesion strength by formula.
EFFECT: high accuracy and objectivity of determining adhesion strength of thin coatings.
