FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: method of preventing collision of cars involves receiving optical radiation from objects lying in a danger zone, converting said radiation to electrical signals, using said signals to determine distance I to an obstacle, comparing said distance I with allowable distance L, and generating a warning signal or instructions for braking if I ≤ L. The received optical radiation from objects is filtered by suppressing signals in the range with wavelength shorter than 3 mcm. Reception and conversion are performed for n sections, lying one behind the other in the danger zone. An obstacle is determined from the difference between electrical signals from neighbouring sections. From all sections with detected obstacles, the one closest to the car is selected, the distance I to which is determined. In the absence of an obstacle, signals from all sections are identical owing to selection of corresponding conversion coefficients. The image around the car is continuously recorded into a memory unit housed in a protective casing, based on instructions from the anti-collision system and anti-theft system of the car, connected to the image recording unit through an OR element. Said method is realised using the corresponding device.
EFFECT: invention broadens functionalities of said locators owing to constant recording of the image around the car and further protection of the car from theft.
