FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: modulation device has a platform on an axis of rotation with a substrate mounted on the platform, where a relief diffraction grating with a rectangular profile is formed on the surface of the substrate. The depth of the relief of the diffraction grating is greater than a quarter of the wavelength of the modulated laser radiation. A mirror reflecting coating is deposited on top of the diffraction grating. The platform rests on an electromechanical vibrator placed at a distance from the axis of rotation of the platform, where Δx is the amplitude of displacement of the electromechanical vibrator and ΔΘ is the amplitude of angular oscillations of the platform with the grating. A recoil spring is placed between the electromechanical vibrator and the axis of rotation. A spatial filter is placed at the output of the reflected laser radiation beam at the zero order diffraction.
