FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method of producing alkenes from raw material which contains monoatomic aliphatic alcohols of the paraffin family, which contain 2-3 carbon atoms, in which said monoatomic aliphatic alcohols are dehydrated to corresponding alkenes with the same number of carbon atoms, characterised by that alcohols in the raw material include ethanol, propanol, propanols, less than 1 wt % methanol and less than 1 wt % C3+ alcohols;and the dehydration step is carried out at pressure higher than 0.5 MPa, but lower than 4.0 MPa and temperature lower than 300°C. The invention also relates to a method of producing alkenes from hydrocarbons, including the method described above.
EFFECT: present invention avoids the step for removing C3+ alcohols from the raw material.
