FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for skeletal isomerisation of n-butenes to isobutylene in a gaseous medium. The method is characterised by that the process is carried out in the presence of a catalyst with a micro-mesoporous structure, which is characterised by ratio of micropores from 0.10 to 0.90 and ratio of mesopores from 0.90 to 0.10, with total pore volume of 0.150-0.650 cm3/g, including microporous crystalline silicates with a ferrierite, mordenite or ZSM-23 zeolite structure, wherein molar composition of the anionic zeolite skeleton has the formula: T2O3·(20-100)SiO2, where T denotes elements selected from a group comprising aluminium, gallium and iron.
EFFECT: use of the described zeolite structures enables to overcome steric hindrances which arise in zeolite catalysts of prior art.
