FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: reception of acoustic signals on cock platforms is performed in frequency band of acoustic signals generated in gas flow of gas main with vibrations of walls of gas line and with case of piston. Output signals of converters in blocks of secondary instruments are then processed simultaneously on the cock platforms nearest to a moving piston by isolating the acoustic signals of pulse repetition cycle from the received ones; these signals are generated with piston strokes passing butt welding seams of the gas line in frequency band (0.2…2) kHz. On results of processing there is determined current average velocity and location of the piston in the gas main, and also worked out commands of piston motion control.
EFFECT: control over current average velocity of piston and its location in gas main, control over dynamics of piston motion, and control over reliability of obtained results.
