FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in chemical industry. Fatty acids 1 and alcohol 2 are fed into a reaction section 10, where esterification of fatty acids with alcohol takes place in the absence of a catalyst at temperature 200-350 °C and pressure ranging from atmospheric pressure to 10 bars. Water formed during the esterification reaction is continuously removed together with excess alcohol.
EFFECT: invention enables to create a simple and cheap method of producing alkyl ethers of fatty acids without production of glycerine, using fatty acid distillates, which are obtained as a by-product when refining vegetable oils, as raw material.
