FIELD: industrial organic synthesis. SUBSTANCE: isoolefins of olefin hydrocarbon stock are subjected to interaction with an alkanol in reaction zone to form reaction mixture, which is then distilled in the first distillation zone. First-distillation residual product contains ether(s) and overhead fraction contains unreacted alkanol and light hydrocarbon mixture. Overhead fraction is subjected to second distillation in the second distillation zone. Second-distillation overhead fraction mainly contains lightest hydrocarbons and small amount of alkanoyl, whereas residual product contains essentially oxygenate-free hydrocarbons, which can be used in alkylation stage. To increase conversion, sidestream is tapped off from the second distillation zone and recycled into reaction zone.
