FIELD: electricity.

SUBSTANCE: method consists in generation of two electric values supplied to according inlets of protection ohmmetre comparator, besides, the second of these values causes failure of comparator and is DC voltage, produced by raising voltage to positive power of n≥1, and voltage is functionally connected to absolute value of module of sinusoid voltage at short-circuit loop, and the first electric signal causes actuation of comparator, is non-sinusoid voltage, and which, according to invention, is produced as a result of sinusoid voltage raising to positive power of m≥1, at that voltage is functionally related to instantaneous value of sinusoid current of short-circuit loop, besides powers m and n are not simultaneously equal to one, and in case of their equality at the outlet of comparator, in process of time of short circuit existence, a sequence of pulses is generated, duration of which is connected, for instance, to value of module of complete inlet resistance of short circuit loop.

EFFECT: improved accuracy and reliability of protection.
