FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention is designed to be used in power transmission line remote protection ohmmeters and devices measuring the distance to short-circuit points in the said lines. In compliance with the proposed method the instant sinusoidal voltage module raised to positive m-power and sent to the first comparator input is used as the first electrical parameter while the magnitude of sinusoidal voltage raised to n-power is used as the second electrical parameter representing a divider, the m and n powers not being equal at a time to unity. At m=n and generation of electrical parameters raised to a power the method allows construction of the protection ohmmeter with its comparator output featuring the pulse duration Δt uniquely related to the impedance module in the line to the short-circuit point.
EFFECT: higher accuracy of generating electrical parameters to be compared by comparator.
