FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to organic synthesis. N-(1,3,5-dithiazinan-5-yl)-thiourea obtained using the disclosed method can be used a selective sorbent and extraction agent for noble and precious metals. The method involves reacting hydrogen sulphide-saturated formaldehyde with a freshly prepared mixture of thiosemicarbazide BuONa/BuOH (pH>11.5) in ratio thiosemicarbazide: BuONa/BuOH: H2S equal to 1:3:3:2 for 7 hours (40°C) followed by neutralisation with a calculated amount of diluted HCl. Output of the desired N-(1,3,5-dithiazinan-5-yl)-thiourea is equal to 92%.
