FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: sample is taken from a motor petrol storage tank and content of existent gum (Cin) is determined using the standard GOST 1567-97 and chemical stability is determined from the amount of absorbed oxygen (DIK). The amount of absorbed oxygen is determined in an automated installation for determining chemical stability of petrol from the ratio of absorbed oxygen, for which a 50 cm3 sample of the test petrol is poured into a vessel which is put into a sealed cell in which oxygen is fed until achieving excess pressure of 800±10 kPa. The cell is put into a temperature-controlled cabinet preheated to 120°C. In accordance with the given program, the automated installation determines the amount of absorbed oxygen from temperature and oxygen pressure values in the measurement cell measured by corresponding sensors and the result is given out with indication of the amount of the absorbed oxygen. The shelf life is calculated using a mathematical relationship.

EFFECT: high accuracy, faster and easier determination.
