SUBSTANCE: in processing machines, banknotes are moved by a transportation system and pass through a measurement section of the transportation path. In certain sensors, banknotes passing nearby touch the front side of the housing of the sensor facing the banknotes. This results in wearing of the front surface of the housing, which can have adverse effect on transportation of the banknotes. According to the invention, in case of wearing of the front surfaces of the sensor, there is no need to replace all the sensor components, but the front elements of the sensor components only. On the side of the housing of the sensor component facing the banknotes there is one or more front elements which are fitted on the housing with possibility of removal, which enables their easy replacement. The front elements are not in contact with the inner volume of the housing and detecting elements therein. When front elements are removed from the housing in order to carry out servicing, measurement elements remain encapsulated in the dust-proof housing of the sensor component.
EFFECT: uninterrupted transportation of sheet material along sensors even with high transportation speeds.
