FIELD: printing industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to printing industry and may be used to make at least one window in a lengthy paper substrate. The substrate is virtually divided into fields across its longitudinal axis. During realisation of the method the paper substrate is equipped with at least one water mark in each field. Position of at least one water mark is detected by means of at least one sensor unit. The paper substrate is supplied to a section of holes making. The section is controlled on the basis of the water mark position determined by the sensor unit. At least one window is made in each field of the substrate. The device to realise the method comprises a transport section, a sensor unit, a computing unit and a section of holes making.
EFFECT: invention provides for no necessity to surprint position marks; no displacement of windows relative to each other.
