FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of ceramic articles, mainly decorative and art purposes. The method of engobing a ceramic article involves preparing engobe, applying onto the surface of the ceramic article, drying and burning. Before drying, a halite layer is deposited on the wet surface of the engobe layer. Burning is carried out at temperature 1050-1150°C while feeding water vapour. Another version of the said method involves preparation of engobe, application onto the surface of the ceramic article, drying and burning. A layer of liquid potassium glass is deposited on the wet surface of the engobe layer before drying.
EFFECT: efficient method of producing ceramic articles.
